Rural Aid GHR Neighbours
2017 Shiraz

It’s a beautiful sunny spring day. Looking out the window I can see young shoots on the neighbour’s vineyard. There is fresh green growth in the paddocks from recent rainfall, and the alpacas are happily munching away. The Barossa Ranges are tinged with green and, despite a dry start to the year and below average rainfall, the Valley is alive with the new season’s growth.

In many rural and farming communities across Australia, the vista is very different. It’s brown, it’s dry. A story of empty paddocks, empty dams and dry bores. A story of struggling farming families who are completely reliant on winter and spring rainfalls that haven’t come. They’re trying to keep their crops, their livestock, their businesses and each other going during another year of extreme drought. Their water reserves are so low that, for some, they don’t even have enough for basic domestic needs. Their glass is close to empty, if it isn’t already.  Let’s help to fill their glass.

Rural Aid is a charity that was founded in 2015 with the aim of providing support to both farmers and rural communities through disaster relief and sustainability. One of its largest programs is the well-known Buy a Bale initiative. It has since grown into a charity that also provides water to families whose reservoirs and tanks are nearly dry, and financial support to farmers in need. Every $250 raised delivers 11,500 litres of water to a family that no longer has any water of their own left for domestic purposes.

Order a specially marked dozen of 2017 GHR Neighbours Shiraz, between the 18th of October 2019 and the 15th of December 2019 and we’ll donate $100 to Rural Aid.
As of November 14th 2019, in light of worsening conditions and severe bushfires affecting so many rural communities, we are extending this offer indefinitely.

As of March 23rd 2020, we’re adding St. Jakobi Shiraz to this offer to continue raising funds for Rural Aid.

If you would like to make a donation to Rural Aid separate to our offer, you can do so here.

Let’s give these farming families a drink. They deserve it!
Thank you for your support.
Cheers!

Brenda, Wayne and Lloyd.
