Well, we’ve learned something new.

When folk talk of the 12 days of Christmas we thought that this was 12 days leading up to Christmas, but in fact The Twelve Days of Christmas start on Christmas Day and last until the evening of the 5th of January – also known as Twelfth Night. These 12 Days have been celebrated in Europe since before the Middle Ages and each day traditionally celebrates a feast day for a saint…  and what is a feast without a glass of red… perhaps a St. Jakobi!

The Twelve Days of Dutschke don’t necessitate specific dates, but would be fun to enjoy over the Christmas period at your leisure, a bit like an advent calendar.

Since the transition of WillowBend Wines to Dutschke Wines in 1998 we have kept a few cases of each wine for our Museum cellar. Now that we are slowly coming to a close, we realise that there is probably more wine there than Brenda and I can consume, so we thought that it’d be a nice thing to share some of this collection with you.
